The Council of the Isles of Scilly provides services or help to find the right contact for :
Registering a death is the responsibility of the Registrar.
Deaths have to be registered in the district in which the event took place. This can be done in person at the local Register Office, or by declaration in any other Register Office. The latter will involve a delay, as documents would have to be posted to the Register Office where the event occurred.
Further general information on how to go about registering a death can be found on the General Register Office website.
People wishing to register a Death in Scilly should contact the Registrar (Laura Jenkins, Tel 01720 422251, or her Deputy as advised by the Town Hall on 01720 422537 when she is unavailable) in the first instance in order to make an appointment to come in.
She will advise them of the procedures, which documents etc. they need to bring with them and will fix a mutually convenient time for the Registration.
There is no cost in registering a Death, but a charge of £3.50 per certificate is made.
The Register Office hours of opening are Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 to 10.30 a.m. The telephone number is 01720 424321. This is only regularly manned during these hours, but there is an answerphone at all other times. Alterneatively, you can email toregistration@scilly.gov.uk
All enquiries on other matters should be referred to Jane Hurd, Superintendent Registrar. She should be contacted via the Register Office as above. In an emergency, she may be contacted at home on 01720 422244
