Code of Conduct

The following is a Press Release issued by the Council of the Isles of Scilly on 27th August 2008

The Council of the Isles of Scilly received a complaint from Councillor G Bilsborough that another Member, Councillor J.D. May did not declare a personal and prejudicial interest, contrary to the Code of Conduct 2007, during a debate on the new school build at a meeting of Council on 13th May 2008.

The Standards Committee of the Authority has investigated this complaint and has found that a breach of the Code of Conduct has occurred.

As a result of this breach, Councillor J.D.May will undergo further training in issues connected with the Code of Conduct as soon as possible, but within six months of this date.

Councillor J.D.May has the opportunity to appeal this decision by writing to the President of the Adjudication Panel for England.
