One of the most significant initiatives to be launched by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has been the Implementing Electronic Government scheme.
The project has given £950,000 grant aid over the last few years to every local authority in England to improve service delivery. This is not wholly to do with wholesale computerisation, but is to alter the culture of Councils and the existing methods of delivering services to the communities they serve.
