Updated Children and Young People's Plan for the Isles of Scilly

The CYPP is an important element of the reforms underpinned by the Children Act 2004. Local areas have to produce a single, strategic, overarching plan for all services affecting children and young people. The CYPP will influence, and be influenced by, the Council's Corporate Plan, called the Community Strategy.

The Government's aim is for every child and young person up to the age of 19, whatever their background or their circumstances, to have the support they need to:

  • Be healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being

At the Children and Young People's Committee meeting on 19th June 2008 the new 2008 - 2011 version of the Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) was unanimously approved. This is the second such plan for the Isles of Scilly that consolidates recent achievements and identifies further priorities which aim to improve the quality of life for children and young people on the Islands. The Chairman of the Council Christine Savill said 'this is a very good plan with the right priorities for the islands. It has been drawn up with lots of consultation and is more challenging that the first edition'.
