Funded Childcare for Eligible 2 Year Olds on the Isles of Scilly
The extended offer of free early learning and childcare for 2 year olds will be available for parents on Scilly at an Ofsted registered childcare provider from January 2010. All 2 year olds are entitled to a funded place from the term after their 2nd birthday. If your child has reached their 2nd birthday by 31st December 09 they are eligible. Parents / carers can access up to 10 hours per week of funded childcare for 38 weeks of the year during term time. This can be accessed in a maximum of 2 settings.
Take up of the entitlement is not compulsory, it is entirely the choice of the parent / carer. However It could be used to support your access to employment or training, enable your child’s interaction with other children or prepare them for Nursery Class after their 3rd birthday.
The Council will make payment direct as agreed to your registered provider who will keep a record of your child’s funded places on a weekly basis. Please note this does not include the Five Islands School Nursery Class.
