Emergency PlanningIn accordance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 Opens in a new window the Council of the Isles of Scilly strives to protect the community and essential services in the event of a major incident. Our plans show how local services and organisations work together to respond to different incidents.

Please browse the links on the left hand side of the page to find information on various contingencies and scenarios relating to the work of the Emergency Planning Department.

Obviously as an island group some 28 miles from the mainland there are going to be issues in terms of logistics. If an incident occurred on Lands End, then they are quickly accessible by all the emergency services and even additional supplies and services can be quickly brought in from outside of Cornwall, regardless of weather conditions.

Main quay waveWe are a very different place, despite being within view of each other on a clear day. Teamwork and planning are the two most important aspects of Emergency Planning on the Isles of Scilly. Prevention is always better than cure, but we also have to plan for the eventuality that bad things can and will happen. On these pages you have an insight into some of our work.

If you wish to contact anyone regarding the work of the Emergency Planning section you can find details on how to contact us and the Council on the 'Contact' page listed on the left or contact the Council offices on 01720 424000 and they will redirect your call appropriately.
