Incident Definitions

Primary Fires:  Fires in buildings including mobile homes fit for occupation (i.e. not wholly derelict), caravans, vehicles, outdoor storage, plant and machinery, agricultural and forestry premises/property, post boxes, tunnels, bridges, and any secondary fire if they involve casualties, rescues or escapes or spread from one secondary fire location.

Secondary Fires: These are fires confined to locations such as single derelict building, single building under demolition, single tree, grassland, hedges, fences, railway embankments, refuse, and road furniture.

Chimney Fires:  This is a fire that is confined to a chimney.

Special Service Call:  These are requests for the Fire Service to attend an incident that is outside of the Fire Service statutory duty.  These are incidents such as road traffic incidents (RTA’s), animal rescues, flooding, drums washed up on beaches, chemical incidents, water delivery, assistance to the police.

Reinforcements: When a crew moves to another island to provide assistance.
