Concessionary Bus Travel

Concessionary Bus Travel for Persons over 60 and Eligible Disabled People

From April 2008 all Persons aged 60 or over and eligible disabled people in England will get free off-peak travel on all local buses throughout England (rather than just their local authority area of residence). It is anticipated that over 11 million people will benefit from this new legislation.

In order to receive a Concessionary Bus Pass, applicants must be a permanent resident of the Isles of Scilly. All persons must complete an Application Form for Concessionary Fares Opens in a new window. Persons over 60 must supply proof of age, along with two passport style photographs. In order to receive a Concessionary Bus Pass Disabled Persons must fulfil one of the following eligibility categories:

  • Category A: You are Blind or Partially Sighted.
  • Category B: You are Profoundly or Severely Deaf.
  • Category C: You are without Speech.
  • Category D: You have a Disability or Injury which has a Substantial & Long-term Adverse Effect on the ability to Work
  • Category E: You do not have Arms or have long term loss of the use of both arms.
  • Category F: You Have a Learning Disability
  • Category G: You are unfit to drive due to a physical disability.
