Isles of Scilly Music Service
This is a Local Authority service to widen the potential for local people (essentially aimed at school pupils, but also caters for adults), to participate in a good quality and variety of music lessons.
ISMS has the following lessons on offer:
- Piano
- Flute
- Violin
- Clarinet
- Saxophone
- Guitar - lead/bass/rhythm
- Percussion - drum kits and other
The cost for tuition is £8 per half hour (£4 if the lesson is shared with another pupil).
Other ISMS activities:
- Saturday music centre - 11am - 4pm, every week. A drop in facility for school pupils who want to practise / play in groups with other pupils, with a wide variety of instruments. £1.50 per session.
- Flute choir for all level of flute players
- Clarinet choir for all levels
- Woodwind ensemble catering for beginners to intermediate.
- Saxophone group - open to any ability.
- Loony-tunes - a group session for real beginners
As well as this wide variety of music provision, there are a few groups of pupils who have set up their own 'rock' bands, and regularly practice at group sessions.
