The core tourism services are:

  • The provision and maintenance of the Tourism Information Centre
  • The production of an annual accommodation brochure
  • To advertise and promote the Islands as a holiday destination
  • To develop strategic objectives for achieving a sustainable tourism industry and to promote those objectives in the community

The Tourism Objectives are:

  • Maintain the amount of visitor accommodation at an overall level in line with existing capacity and maximise occupancy of the accommodation stock for the months of March to October inclusive.
  • Encourage the use of the available transport capacity for day visitors for the months of March to October.
  • Encourage the development of tourism during the months of November to March inclusive at a level appropriate to the transport, accommodation facilities and support services that can be provided during those months.
  • Maintain a range of passenger and freight transport options between the mainland and the Islands and within the Islands on an all-year round basis.
  • Encourage the development of high quality throughout the tourism industry by means of setting the standards and promoting training in order to add value to the Island image for the benefit of the industry and the visitor.
  • Improve the marketing of the Islands to ensure cost-effective targeted advertising and promotions with a clearly identified Isles of Scilly image in order to achieve a close match between product offer and customer expectation.
  • Encourage a diverse range of catering, retail and craft outlets operating on a full-time basis from March to October inclusive.
  • Encourage the provision of sport and leisure activities appropriate to the scale and quality of the Islands' environmen
