My Background

I am Cornish, born and bred, and part of a large extended family centred around Truro.

I came to the islands in 1979 to spend a summer break working at the Scillonian Club - I had no idea at that time that my 'summer' would last more than 25 years! I married Michael on St.Marys in 1983 and together we have built a retail business.

I get great satisfaction from my work as a shop keeper and a councillor, as both roles keep me closely involved in community life. My pastimes are more solitary - needlework, walking and dreaming of a garden.

Why did I put myself forward

I became involved in local politics through the IOS Tourism Association. I had the honour to be the Chairman of IOSTA at the time that the Tourist Board was founded, and became Vice Chairman of the Board.

Since becoming a Councillor I have served as Chairman of the Tourist Board and General Purposes Committee. I am currently Chairman of Policy & Resources, and Vice Chairman of Council
