Committee summary: Health Overview and Scrutiny, 17 February 2016

Did you miss the last Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC) meeting? Here are some key points from the meeting held on Wednesday, 17 February 2016.

  • The Vice-Chairman of the Community Services Committee gave a verbal update summarising Community Services committee’s decisions with regard to initiating an options analysis of elder care provision on the islands.
  • The Chief Executive gave a verbal update around the devolution deal for Cornwall and the potential impact on health and social care on the islands.
  • The GP reported that the waiting list for optometry appointments has now been cleared and that NHS England are researching options around future delivery of the service on the islands.
  • Dr Ellen Wilkinson gave a brief update on the process of the transfer of health services to NHS Kernow, a 2 year contract which would begin on 1 April.
  • Healthwatch Isles of Scilly have expressed their concern over the midwifery service model.
