Council Tax Payments and Reminder Letters

It has come to the Council’s attention that the automated phone line provided by Cornwall Council for Council Tax purposes for the residents of the Isles of Scilly was not working. This has now been fixed. We apologise for the inconvenience this issue has caused.

There have also been some issues raised concerning Council Tax reminder letters, which some residents have received this week. There has been some feedback that residents have completed a Direct Debit form and subsequently received a letter informing them that their payment is outstanding. There is currently no Direct Debit form to pay for Council tax. The only way to set up a Direct Debit payment for Council Tax is by phoning 0300 1234 105 during normal office hours (Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4.30 pm).

Direct Debit forms only currently exist for Water and Sewerage charges. Residents may therefore have completed this form and think that they have dealt with both Council Tax and Water and Sewerage charges. If you have completed a Direct Debit form it will only be for Water and Sewerage charges and you will need to phone 0300 1234 105 to set up a Direct Debit for Council Tax. We are currently working on an electronic Council Tax Direct Debit form for the Council’s web site.
