Introducing the Council's new Environmental Health Officer

Recently appointed EHO David Currie will be establishing the islands' Environmental Health function.

The primary goal of the Council's new Environmental Health function is to attain and preserve a good quality of life for people across the islands. We hope that this function will also contribute to the long-term prosperity of the islands by helping local businesses to meet the environmental standards that visitors expect as well as their basic obligations.

'My aim is to form an Environmental Health Section within the Council and to address each area which falls under the remit of Environmental Health,' said EHO David Currie. 'As you can appreciate it will take some time to establish each function and my initial focus will be on Food Law Enforcement and establishing an appropriate inspection regime for the islands. I appreciate that it may have been a considerable time since inspections were carried out on the islands and welcome your patience as I establish this function,' he added.

Our EHO will be doing his best to educate businesses about their Environmental Health responsibilities over the coming weeks. However, please be aware that EHOs also have a duty to enforce so we ask that you take this opportunity to ensure that enforcement is the exception.
