Island Light Festival 2016

Children’s Services are pleased to welcome back Reg Payn and his team from Articulate to present the Island Light Festival 2016 this February half-term.

A range of activities including lantern making, collage workshops, shadow projections and singing sessions will be taking place throughout the week at Carn Thomas Children’s Centre.

This year’s theme is migration: ’Following in their Footsteps’. The week will end on Saturday 20 February with an evening procession through Hugh Town to parade what promise to be some spectacular lanterns of all shapes and sizes.

Booking is essential for the community lantern making workshops and children under 12 must be accompanied by a carer over the age of 16.

The cost will be £5 per lantern. Please return family workshop bookings to the Children’s Services office at Carn Thomas or alternatively you can book by emailing childrensservices@scilly.gov.uk.

The procession will depart from Carn Thomas at approximately 6:30pm and continue along the strand to Hugh Street where there will be a loop at the Mermaid car park. The parade will then return along Hugh Street via Park House for the singers to perform for the residents. It will then cut through Well Cross to Holgates Green where the parade will conclude with a firework display.
