Many of the soft steel fittings have suffered in the salt air over the years and will need to be replaced with galvanised and corrosion resistant fittings if the current equipment is to stay in use. However, the equipment has been designed in such a way that to replace a fitting requires a significant amount of dismantling which will be a complex and potentially expensive task.
We have decided to close the whole area to users for the time being as there are trip hazards embedded in the ground that could hurt children or adults when they run in the park.
Once we have a full assessment in place as to the cost of maintaining and repairing the equipment we will provide an update.
We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to have more information on the future of the park in the coming weeks.
