Waste & Recycling Update: 12 October

INCINERATOR DEMOLITION
Preparatory work has started on the incinerator demolition project with surveys and inspections taking place last week. In the coming weeks, the contractor, Waste Recycling & Decommissioning (WRD) Ltd, will provide information to neighbours and those who access the footpath adjacent to the incinerator to ensure everyone is informed as to when demolition will take place. The demolition is due to be completed in November 2015.

Access to the Footpath will be restricted to the public during demolition of the structures, but will be passable under the control of WRD.

HOUSEHOLD WASTE AND RECYCLING CENTRE
Unsuitable ground conditions have delayed works to the development of the Household Waste and Recycling Centre since our last update on 9 September. The Council and the contractor, Wright Construction Ltd, are pleased to announce that this has now been resolved and works to prepare the ground for the first development phase of this area are now taking place.

WASTE TRANSFER STATION
This is the area where all waste and recycling (including commercial) will be processed and stored prior to its transfer to the mainland. The opportunity to tender for this work is now available at the following link:
