The Airfield

The ARP (at intersection of the runways) is 49 54 48 N 006 17 30 W, elevation 116 ft.

Pilots should exercise extreme caution when landing or taking-off as the aerodrome is severely hump-backed. The gradients increase to as much as 1 in 13 at runway ends. Pilots who have not visited previously are advised to request a low fly past to observe and assess the runway's profile and possible wind shear/turbulence.

A perimeter road runs around the Northern part of the aerodrome and traffic is liable to cross the approaches to runway 15. A footpath controlled by traffic lights crosses the turning circle of runway 33.

Runway 15-33 is 600 metres by 23 metres wide, tarmac with PAPI lights.

Runway 09-27 is 523 metres by 18 metres wide, 280m tarmac at 27 end with the remainder grass. Both have runway edge and runway end lights fitted. Pilots are warned of the different braking characteristics of the grass/tarmac sections of 09-27.

There are no hangarage or engineering facilities for visiting aircraft. All aircraft will be parked on the grass, tie down weights are available.

Pilots advised to contact Lands End Tower frequency 120.25 before entering the Lands End Corridor when inbound to St. Mary's.
