Planning Applications

This is a list of all Planning Applications with all the most recent and 'live' applications appearing at the top. The search box function on the Council's webpages can usefully be used to search for planning applications, either by application number or address.  Similarly the data on our planning list can be retrieved using an external search engine.  This may be quicker than going back one page at a time, as applications on this website go back to 2014.  If you would like to view anything prior to 2014 then please contact us at planning@scilly.gov.uk or give us a call via 01720 424455 and leave a message.

Application timescales and decisions

We aim to determine applications as soon as reasonably practicable. The statutory determination period is normally eight weeks from validation for most planning applications, although different periods apply to some types of application. Where additional time is required, the Council may agree an extension of time with the applicant or agent.

If the Committee date is blank, this means that the application is currently expected to be determined by an authorised Planning Officer, or that a Planning Committee date has not yet been confirmed. Whether an application is determined by an officer or the Planning Committee is governed by the national scheme of delegation and the Council’s governance arrangements.

All applications are assessed by Planning Officers against the development plan and other material planning considerations, regardless of whether the final decision is made by an authorised officer or the Planning Committee.

Commenting on an application

If you wish to comment on a planning application, you can do so by email or by writing to the Planning Department. Please quote the application reference number and provide your name and address. Anonymous comments cannot normally be taken into account, and comments cannot be treated as confidential.

If you have a query about an application or the process for submitting comments, please email planning@scilly.gov.uk or telephone the Planning Department on 01720 424455.

Please submit your comments by the date shown on the application record or consultation notice. The formal consultation period is normally 21 days, although this can vary depending on the type of application and the publicity required. Comments received after the stated deadline may still be taken into account if the application has not already been determined, but we cannot delay making a decision to await late representations.

Comments received will form part of the public planning record and will normally be published on the Council’s website. Your name and comments may be made publicly available, but personal contact details such as signatures, telephone numbers and email addresses will normally be removed before publication. Please do not include sensitive personal information about yourself or another person unless it is necessary and relevant to the planning issues being considered.

If an appeal is made against the Council’s decision, or against its failure to determine the application within the relevant period, the Council will send the Planning Inspectorate the representations received at the application stage. Under the expedited written-representations procedure, interested parties will not normally have an opportunity to submit further comments at the appeal stage. It is therefore important that you provide all relevant comments while the planning application is being considered.

Please read our planning representations privacy notice for further information about how we use and publish personal information.

The Council reserves the right to withhold from publication any representation, or part of a representation, containing offensive, discriminatory, threatening, defamatory or otherwise unlawful material. Comments that do not relate to material planning considerations may not affect the planning decision.
