Functional Skills Maths- Entry Level 1. July 2022
To begin studying later in life is a big step and Alan Matthews has not only taken that step, but also a great leap, to achieve his Entry Level 1 Maths qualification. Alan achieved his Entry Level 1 English qualification with Learn Scilly back in 2017 and decided there and then that he wanted to continue with his studies.
Every week Alan shows up to his lessons with his tutor Sonia and gives 150% at each session. He has mastered so many new skills it was a privilege for Sonia to be part of his learning and to observe first hand, not only his newly acquired skills, but also the confidence and self-esteem that his new found ability has given him.
The day Alan took and passed his final exam in July 2022 was momentous for all of us at Learn Scilly, who have shared this journey with him. Well done Alan we are all very proud of you.
It is not always easy for adults to seek support with basic skills such as English and Maths, however Alan’s courage and hard work has proved that by taking those first steps, it is possible to achieve something which can positively enhance many areas of your life. Congratulations Alan!
