Anne Coyle appointed as Interim Director of Children’s Services

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Anne Coyle as Interim Director of Children’s Services (DCS), as of 3 June 2024. Anne replaces the previous Interim DCS, Justine Davies.

Anne is an experienced DCS and improvement specialist and has successfully implemented Ofsted improvement plans at other Councils. At the heart of Anne’s approach is to ensure the voices of children, families and communities underpin all that we do.

Russell Ashman, Chief Executive of the Council of the Isles of Scilly, said: “Anne’s wealth of experience as a Director of Children’s Services is invaluable at this point in the Council’s Ofsted improvement journey. It’s important that Children’s Services is improved in line with the Ofsted recommendations and for the benefit of islanders. I believe that Anne is extremely well placed to do this. I’d like to thank Justine Davies for stepping up to the role at an extremely challenging time. I would also like to thank all the staff in the service for their continued hard work and commitment.”

Anne Coyle, Interim Director of Children’s Services, said: “Thank you to everyone I have met so far for a very warm welcome. It is my absolute honour to join you in this important post. These islands have a very special place in my heart, having spent many a summer holiday here when my children were young and having watched my daughter take her first steps on St Agnes. To come back as your Director of Children's Services is truly something special and I look forward to meeting more of you as the weeks unfold."
