To be able to vote in this election:

  • you need to be registered to vote.
  • if you intend to vote at the polling station, you need to show photo ID to the polling station staff before you can be given your ballot paper. This is a new requirement that was introduced by the Elections Act 2022.

You can find out more about registering to vote and the photo ID requirement in the FAQs.

Voters registered on St Mary’s were introduced to the photo ID requirement at last year’s Council by-election. For the off islands, however, this is the first election at which the photo ID requirement will be in place.

In order to take effect for this election:

  • applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024.
  • applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024 (unless you are changing from a postal vote to a proxy vote in which case the application must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024).
  • applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (a free photo ID document for those who do not already have an acceptable form of photo ID) must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
