Have you got views on childcare sufficiency on the Isles of Scilly? Complete our survey to have your say and let us know what you need

We need to know more about the level of childcare need and provision across the islands. Please complete our Childcare Sufficiency Survey, by following the instructions below, if you live on the islands and:

• use childcare;
• have an unmet childcare need; or
• are likely to need childcare in the future.

Your responses will inform the development of our Childcare Sufficiency Report on the supply of and demand for childcare places on the islands. By identifying where and when childcare is needed now and into the future, we hope to be in a better position to support families in their planning for years to come. 

Childcare providers on across the islands are being contacted separately to complete a survey about their provision. If you are a childcare provider on the islands and you have not received an email about this by 1 August 2025, please email familyscilly@scilly.gov.uk or call 0300 1234 105 (option 5).

How to complete the survey

All responses must be received by the deadline at 3pm on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.

Councillor Frances Grottick, Lead Member for Children said: “Over the past year or so the Council has made increasing efforts to engage families and childcare providers in discussions around childcare need and provision, and we’re grateful to everyone who has contributed their views so far. However, even if you’ve already spoken to us about your childcare needs, I really encourage everyone with an interest in accessing childcare on the islands to complete this survey. The responses we receive will help shape the cases we make on your behalf in the months and years ahead."
