Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrated in style

The Council celebrated Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the special bank holiday weekend by lighting a beacon and participating in a number of community events and activities.

Over 2,000 beacons were lit throughout the UK, including those on St Mary’s and on each of the off-islands. You can view photographs below of the Council's beacon lighting ceremony which took place outside Hugh House on St Mary’s, on Thursday, 2 June, in collaboration with the Duchy of Cornwall.

Residents and visitors were able to join in celebrations on each of the islands thanks to a huge community effort to mark the historic event. You can view photo’s of the Council’s well-attended and supported Party in The Park event, which took place on Friday, 3 June, below.

We hope you all enjoyed the special bank holiday weekend as much as we did.
