How we're administering government’s £150 Council Tax Rebate to eligible households

In February 2022, government announced financial help for households to cope with the rising cost of energy. This help includes a payment of £150 to those households in council tax bands A-D which meet the eligibility criteria.

How you will receive your rebate

The way you receive your rebate will depend on how you are currently paying your council tax.

People who pay by direct debit

If you live in an eligible property and you pay your council tax by direct debit (and your payment details are up to date) the payment will already have been made directly to your bank account on 4 May 2022. You do not need to do anything further.

If the bank account details for your direct debit are out of date, you should already have received a letter from us with instructions on how to proceed in order to obtain your payment.

People who do not pay by direct debit

If you are eligible for the rebate, but do not pay your council tax by direct debit, you should already have received a letter from us with instructions on how to proceed in order to obtain your payment.

If you haven’t received a rebate payment or a letter from the Council

If you believe you are eligible, but haven’t yet received the £150 council tax rebate, or a letter from us asking you to get in touch, please contact us as soon as possible by calling 0300 1234 121 and selecting option 3.
