Notice of Poll published for St Martin’s election as application deadlines approach

Notice of Poll published for St Martin’s election

The Notice of Poll for the St Martin’s election on Thursday 1 May 2025 has now been published on the Council website – along with the Situation of Polling Station.

Deadline for proxy voting applications: 5pm Wednesday 23 April 2025

If you would like a proxy vote at this election (i.e. where you appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf), your application must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025 (unless you currently have a postal vote, in which case the deadline has already passed).

Anyone who is registered to vote can apply for a proxy vote at a single election. You will, however, need to provide a reason why you cannot attend the polling station (e.g. you will be on holiday).

You can apply online to vote by proxy at a single election. If you are unable to submit an online application for any reason, please contact the Elections Office on 01720 424545 or at elections@scilly.gov.uk, ahead of the deadline, for assistance.

Further information about proxy voting (including details of when and how you can apply for a long-term proxy to vote on your behalf at multiple elections) can be found on our 'Frequently Asked Questions: proxy voting' webpage.

Please note it is already too late to apply for a postal vote at this election.

Deadline for Voter Authority Certificate applications: 5pm Wednesday 23 April 2025

All electors voting in a polling station will need to show photo ID to the polling station staff in order to be issued with a ballot paper. A full list of the accepted forms of photo ID is available on the Electoral Commission website.

If you don’t have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document known as a Voter Authority Certificate. To get a Voter Authority Certificate in time for the St Martin’s election, you need to submit an application by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.

You can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate online. If you are unable to submit an online application for any reason, please contact the Elections Office on 01720 424545 or at elections@scilly.gov.uk, ahead of the deadline, for assistance.

Further information about the photo ID requirement may be found on our 'Frequently Asked Questions: voting in the polling station' webpage.
