Traffic and parking: joint statement from the Council of the Isles of Scilly, Safer Scilly and Devon & Cornwall Police

Concerns have recently been raised regarding traffic congestion and parking, particularly on Hugh Street. The Council, Safer Scilly (the Isles of Scilly Community Safety Partnership) and Devon & Cornwall Police are working jointly in an effort to resolve the issues. There is an ongoing review of the wider road safety issues on St Mary’s which have been highlighted by the community for a number of years. It is hoped this will provide some long-term solutions to the problem.

However, in the meantime we are asking residents and visitors to the Isles of Scilly to take personal responsibility and show consideration when parking to ensure that their own, and other people’s safety can be improved. All parking should be avoided in Hugh Street Monday to Sunday, 9am to 6pm. Please be considerate of causing unnecessary congestion and in particular avoid busy delivery days.
