On St Mary's, storm boards will remain in place for the duration of the warning. This is in order to reduce the amount of sand and debris blown into the roads and drains. We advise everyone to take care when passing exposed areas of coast, as usual.

Please take any precautions you safely can to secure any unstable structures in advance of the warning period and stay inside during the worst of the weather if there is no need for you to be outside.

If you do go outside, please do not use any paths which are closed, avoid wooded areas and storm damaged property if you can, and look out for flying debris and further damage to trees and buildings in the coming days.

If you have any concerns about hazards which may pose a risk to public safety as a result of weather forecasts, please call 01720 424450 or email environment@scilly.gov.uk during office hours. Outside of working hours, please call (do not text) 07747 767965. Any concerns about immediate risk to life should be reported by calling 999 as usual.

Please also continue to keep an eye on the Met Office website at the following link for changes to the forecast. Weather and climate change - Met Office
