Fire & Rescue

About us

The Isles of Scilly Fire and Rescue Service consists of 5 stations on 5 separate islands: St Mary’s, St Agnes, Bryher, Tresco and St Martin’s. There is an additional station at St Mary's Airport. Crews are alerted by Fire Control based in Tolvaddon Cornwall.

In addition to our firefighting role, staff are trained to rescue people from road traffic collisions, industrial accidents, chemical incidents, and are one of the main agencies trained to deal with terrorist attacks. We also provide humanitarian assistance, such as rescuing trapped animals.

Community safety and the prevention of fires throughout the islands is a top priority and to support this we offer the following services:

Home fire safety checks

We will come to your home and check the house for fire safety, including checks on alarms and electrical equipment. We will also offer advice on fire safety and answer any questions you may have.

We will offer free smoke alarms if we feel the home would benefit from them. We will also offer advice on carbon monoxide in the home, in particular, those with an open fire place; we will offer a Carbon Monoxide alarm to any home we think needs it.

Follow us on our Isles of Scilly Fire and Rescue Service Facebook page.

Fire safety group presentations

We provide presentations to groups on fire safety, including the Women's Institute, Ladies Circle, the Round Table and the Memory Café. These presentations are designed to educate the community in fire safety and will raise awareness.

Young person visits

This includes visits to the fire station or the airport for school classes, Brownies, Rainbows and the Cadets. This aims to educate young people in basic fire safety and how to react when there is a fire and to educate them in what being a firefighter involves.
