Introduction to Lime use in building

Course description: 

This day has been structured to assist individuals with varying degrees of competency from whatever background; trade or enthusiast. The course content will cover lime mortars, pointing, rendering and decoration, why we use these products and the tips on how. Whilst there will be opportunities to get to use the materials, the days will not be about teaching you this aspect.

However by the end of the day you will be that much better prepared when it comes to working with these materials.

Learning Objectives: 

To understand;

  • the virtues of lime
  • the use of lime in the past and where and how it was used
  • the different types (Putty or Hydraulic) and their suitability
  • the lime cycle
