Notice of public meetings and budget consultation

We're holding a series of public meetings across the islands which everyone is welcome to attend. These meetings will allow for discussion on the Council’s latest draft budget proposals, and we want to hear your views on spending priorities for the coming financial year.

This is also an opportunity for the Chairman, Vice Chairman and their fellow members of Council to speak to the community about current Council activity and future plans. Our current Chief Executive, Paul Masters will also be in attendance, alongside Russell Ashman, the Council's Chief Finance Officer, who will be taking up the role of Chief Executive in January 2024, following Paul's retirement. 

The details for the meeting are as follows:

St Martin's
Tuesday, 12 December, 11.30am - 1pm at the Island Hall

Tuesday, 12 December, 2pm - 3.30pm at the Community Centre

St Agnes
Wednesday, 13 December, 2.00pm-3.30pm at the Island Hall

St Mary's
Thursday, 14 December, 2pm - 3.30pm at the Old Wesleyan Chapel

This meeting will take place in January 2024. This news item will be updated when the details for the meeting have been confirmed.

Please be aware that if you are unable to attend any of the meetings in person, you are welcome to join the St Mary’s meeting by conference call. The details for joining are as follows:

Please understand that this call may have a lot of participants on it, so we ask that anyone dialling in mutes their phone, unless invited to speak. If there are any issues with particular lines, we may need to remove those lines from the call to ensure the meeting can proceed smoothly.

Printed copies of this document will also be available at each of the meeting venues on the respective meeting dates. 

If you would like to provide written feedback specifically on the budget proposals, please either:

  • email your comments to Councillor Frances Grottick, Lead Member for Finance, Governance, Risk and Performance at; or
  • deliver your comments to St Mary’s Library in a sealed envelope, marked for Councillor Grottick’s attention.

Please submit your comments by noon on Wednesday, 31 January 2024 to ensure they can be considered ahead of the budget being presented to Members at Full Council on 22 February 2024.
